MEET JAKE

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

Born on March 12 in Gary, Indiana, Jakequeline "Jake" Walls is not only a graduate of Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts, where she majored in orchestra, but also holds a B.S. in Communication, Radio/TV/Film from Indiana State University (2001). During her college years, Jakequeline was deeply involved in various campus organizations, including the Black Student Union, Sister Too, Sycamore Storytellers, and 21st Century Scholars. She also served as a mentor for high school upward bound summer camps, showing early signs of her commitment to community and leadership.

After graduation, Jakequeline pursued a career in communication and TV in Atlanta. However, following the events of 9/11, she decided to follow in her father's footsteps and became a firefighter/EMT. She dedicated 8 years to DeKalb Fire before transitioning to add an additional 8 years in DeKalb Emergency Medical Services (EMS) . During her time serving in EMS, she organized numerous community and employee events.

In 2016, Jakequeline became the CEO of ESTA, leading horticultural programs in local schools and recreation centers. She was honored as the EMT of the Year for Georgia Region 3 in 2018. In 2021, Jakequeline was the recipient of the DeKalb County Park Pride Inspirational Award, and recently was awarded the 2024 Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award as an Honorary Georgia Citizen from Georgia Senator Gail Davenport. (See Here: https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/68631)

Her commitment to community service expanded with the establishment of a Non-Emergent Transportation company aimed at assisting seniors and disabled neighbors in accessing necessary medical appointments, fostering a safe and healthy environment for them to thrive.

Today, Jakequeline "Jake" Walls is a passionate advocate for DeKalb County District 3, committed to addressing the community's most pressing needs with innovative solutions and dedicated leadership. District 3 emcompasses the Kirkwood, East Lake, Belvedere Park, Panthersville, Gresham Park, and Candler-McAfee areas.

Driven by a deep commitment to her community, Jake envisions a District 3 where safety, infrastructure, and public services are not just adequate but exemplary. Recognizing the importance of collaboration, her approach involves working closely with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and residents to create a comprehensive strategy for progress.
